Rehabilitation exercises after hip replacement surgery

  • Hip flexibility exercise

    Exercise for thigh muscles

    Bend the knee to sideways and pull the heel to the hip direction.

    Adductor strengthening exercise

    Fix the ball between knees

    Squeeze the ball between your knees for 10 seconds

  • Abductor muscle strengthening exercise

    Lie on your side (not on the operated side) and keep your body in balance

    Lift the operated leg for 30 degrees and hold for 10 seconds

    Exercise for thigh muscles

    Sit in a chair and fix the ball between ankles

    Straighten your legs and hold for 10 seconds

  • Hip muscle strengthening exercise

    Lie on your stomach keeping your leg straight .

    Lie on your stomach keeping your leg straight .

    Exercise for thigh muscles

    Keep operated leg straight and put sandbags (1kg, 2kg) on the ankle. And bend other knee for 45 degree

    Lift the operated leg for 30 degrees and hold for 10 seconds

Rehabilitation exercises after knee replacement surgery

  • Exersice for joint mobilization

    Place a towel on the soles of operated leg and straighten your leg.

    Pull towel and bend the knee as much as possible

    Exercise for knee strengthening

    Put a pillow under the operated knee (pressing a pillow by knees)

    Pull your toes towards you and lift your foot up and hold for 15 second and more.

  • Exersice for joint mobilization

    Press your feet on the ball and straighten the legs as much as possible

    Tighten the ball to the body and bend the knee as much as possible

    Exercise for knee strengthening

    Sit straigt and fix the ball between ankles

    Straighten your legs and hold for 15 seconds and more

  • Exersice for joint mobilization

    Fold the pillow and put on it foot of operated leg and straighten your knee

    If the knee does not straighten well, press the knee with your hands for 15 seconds.

    Exercise for knee strengthening

    Spread your legs shoulder-width and stand straight

    Straighten your knees and raise your heels and hold for 10 seconds
